  • Competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership

Responsibilities

  • Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting physical/psychological/social conditions, conferring with family/friends, establishing nursing diagnosis, objectives, interventions, schedules, and timetables
  • Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating nursing care plans to healthcare team, coordinating with providers, delivering physical/emotional/psychological/spiritual support to patients/families/friends
  • Teach healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals, instructing patients/families/friends on conditions/medications/self-care, answering questions, providing information/resources
  • Evaluate patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes, reviewing records, noting changing conditions/needs, re-evaluating/modifying care plans
  • Maintain safe/secure/healthy patient care environment by following infection-control policies, medication administration/storage procedures, controlled substance regulations, organizational standards, legal regulations, and alerting others to concerns
  • Document patient care services by charting in patient/department records
  • Maintain patient care equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs
  • Manage patient care supplies by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing/expediting orders, verifying receipt, stocking items
  • Maintain professional competence in nursing capabilities
