Requirements

Active LPN license from the Board of Nursing in the state of practice (for LPN)
National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or National Registration as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologist (AMT); or National Certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Health Career Association and Medical Assistant diploma (for Medical Assistant)
Visual acuity adequate to perform position responsibilities
Knowledge of principles of growth and development to respond to patient/customer status
Ability to perform essential job functions satisfactorily

Responsibilities

Provides professional nursing care to patients and families under provider direction (RN/LPN)
Performs general nursing care, administers medications and treatments per nursing standards
Coordinates patient care activities for the clinic
Prepares equipment and assists provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing
Observes, records, and reports patient condition and reactions to drugs/treatments to provider
Oversees appointment scheduling, ensures timely patient flow and emergency preferences
Greets patients, prepares for exams, screens for health history, takes vitals, conducts nursing assessment, documents in chart
Instructs patients on sample collection and tests
Responds to patient phone calls timely with physician input
Educates patients/families on diagnostics, medications, nutrition, health/wellness
Suggests solutions to patient care crises, problems, complaints
Maintains exam rooms with supplies, ensures cleanliness, prepares supply lists
Labels pathology specimens per lab protocol, performs quality control, maintains lab testing records
Performs selected medical assistant and clerical duties following standards (Medical Assistant)
Works collaboratively with clinic staff to solve practice-related problems
