Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure

Responsibilities

Delivers nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, defining interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends
Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating nursing care plans and pertinent information to the health care team, coordinating with other providers, and offering support to patients, families, and friends; conferring with physicians
Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting physical condition, psychological status, and social factors; conferring with family and friends; establishing diagnoses, objectives, interventions, schedules, and timetables
Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals, instructing patients, families, and friends on conditions, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions and providing resources
Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes, reviewing records, noting changing conditions, re-evaluating objectives, and modifying care plans
Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by following infection-control policies, medication administration/storage procedures, controlled substance regulations, organizational standards, policies, and legal regulations; alerting others to potential concerns
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records
Cross-trained to work in both Adolescent (40-bed) and Child (14-bed) Programs
