Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
Experience or interest in behavioral health, particularly with older adults and conditions such as Dementia, Depression, Catatonia, Anxiety Disorders, Schizophrenia, and Bipolar Disorder
Ability to perform medical nursing tasks including IVs, blood draws, catheter insertions, respiratory treatments, and wound care
Critical thinking skills in an active and challenging care environment
Passion for delivering high-quality patient care in a team environment
Comfort working with patients who have medical comorbidities requiring both medical and mental health care
Availability for PRN (as needed) rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays

Responsibilities

Deliver nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, defining interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends
Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating nursing care plans, coordinating with healthcare team members, and conferring with physicians
Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting physical and psychological conditions, conferring with family and friends, and establishing objectives and interventions
Teach healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals, instructing patients, families, and friends on conditions, medications, and self-care, and providing resources
Evaluate patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring outcomes, reviewing records, noting changes, and modifying care plans
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by following infection-control policies, medication procedures, controlled substance regulations, and organizational standards
Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records
Maintain patient care equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and established procedures
