Requirements

  • Enrolled in a recognized Engineering program at a Canadian University and completed a minimum of 1 year of the program
  • Preference for those in Materials Science or Mechanical based programs
  • Knowledge of engineering principles including statics and strength of materials
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D development software or Finite Element Method design packages (a bonus)
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Self-starter with passion for improvement
  • Good organization skills and commitment to safety

Responsibilities

  • Project/Program Work (75%): Development of project goals and planning
  • Metallographic/mechanical specimen preparation
  • Mechanical testing, metallographic analysis, and/or other testing related to project
  • Evaluation and analysis of results
  • Preparation of formal report and review with stakeholder
  • Trial Support (20%): On-site presence to answer questions, carry out and/or supervise trial and ensure data/samples are collected
  • Safety Program, 6S, and R&D quality management program (ISO 9001) (5%): Participation in safety meetings/toolbox talks
  • Development and audit of safe work practices, procedures and commissioning of new equipment/procedures
  • Kaizen events and other improvements to R&D’s workstations/quality program
