Requirements

  • Extensive experience as a Quality Inspector or CMM Operator, with industry and commodity-specific expertise
  • Proficiency in dimensional inspection of precision tolerance parts
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with all inspection tools
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex GD&T requirements and validate complex assemblies
  • Experience with multiple primary and secondary part numbers (e.g., brackets, clips, doublers, splices, brackets, drip shields, etc.)
  • U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State (ITAR compliance)
  • Certified or previously certified in GD&T ASME Y-14.5 (preferred)
  • Diploma or GED from an accredited high school or technical school; college degree in engineering (preferred)
  • 5 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, with at least 2 years as a Mechanical Inspector (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual, physical, and dimensional inspections (both in-process and final) of parts, per project specifications and requirements
  • Perform incoming inspections from external providers of products and services (e.g., nickel plating)
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections of critical features, including witness inspections (e.g., CMM program run)
  • Compile final inspection sign-off sheets and inspection packages
  • Verify that inspection equipment is capable of detecting defects and ensure inspection methodology aligns with drawing intent
  • Review and validate the justification for parts not inspected at final inspection
  • Audit and validate the execution of inspection plans as applicable
  • Document non-conformances using approved methods and submit non-conformance reports for customer disposition
  • Verify hardware cleanliness and absence of internal or external foreign object debris
  • Verify fasteners are properly installed; assure torque stripe is continuous and of correct color
  • Assure products are free of gaps, mismatches, fairing, and of acceptable contour and waviness
  • Ensure products are of good workmanship and meet specified standards (e.g., oil canning, riding conditions, loose fasteners, drill starts, scratches, dings, burrs, fastener edge distance)
  • Review and validate First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation, including completeness, traceability, and compliance
  • Ensure the protection and preservation of inspected products for subsequent processing and shipment
  • Verify applicable shipping documentation for legibility and completeness, including part number, serial number, configuration change letter, and shipping destination
