Requirements

Candidates should possess an undergraduate or Master's degree in Business, Economics, International Affairs, or a research-focused liberal arts subject, with up to 2 years of experience. Strong qualitative research skills are essential, including the ability to organize and absorb large amounts of information, with a keen attention to detail. The ideal candidate must be adept at managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and adjusting priorities in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a collaborative mindset, strong interpersonal skills, resourcefulness, autonomy in problem-solving, and a commitment to hard work and intellectual curiosity. Familiarity with financial statements and annual reports is also required.

Responsibilities

The Qualitative Equity Research Analyst will support the building and maintenance of Syntax’s database of publicly traded companies by leveraging sources such as regulatory filings, industry reports, and proprietary research tools. Responsibilities include conducting thematic research, proactively searching for new data and information sources, generating original research ideas, and identifying new opportunities for index development. The analyst will collaborate with the software development team to automate data collection and validation processes, participate in client meetings, and develop expertise on core industries. Once proficient, the role will involve creating customized investment products, working on process improvement projects, and increasing dataset comprehensiveness.
