Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Cost Accountant, preferably within the construction or project management industry. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in accounting software are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial data and identify variances.
The Project Cost Accountant will monitor project progress from inception through completion, analyze cost variances and discrepancies, proactively communicate concerns or issues to project management and accounting management, process and review subcontractor work orders and pay applications, enter project costs for labor, consumables, and equipment, and ensure all vendor bills, work orders, and purchase orders are processed timely and accurately. Additionally, the role involves reviewing costs incurred with supporting detailed information, identifying and resolving budget variances, communicating with the operations team regarding gross margin issues, performing project close-out financial and administrative functions, supporting internal and external audits, and assisting team members with project-related matters.
