  • Current student eligible for a summer internship program
  • Interest or background in product regulatory compliance, engineering, or related fields
  • Ability to work part-time at Global Headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
  • Capability to read and understand hazardous location standards (e.g., UL, CSA, CE, IECEx, ATEX)
  • Technical aptitude for design reviews, especially electrical device designs
  • Familiarity with component material declarations and environmental compliance

Responsibilities

  • Support Product Regulatory Engineering staff while learning the regulatory function for new and existing products
  • Provide technical direction/support to team members for component material declarations and related environmental compliance
  • Support New Product Development (NPD) and provide oversight of Product Regulatory Compliance development activities for products used in UL/CSA/CE/IECEx/ATEX and other applications
  • Review designs with Engineering and verify compliance with standards
  • Develop and maintain technical relationships with 3rd-party certifying agencies (e.g., UL, CSA, FM) for efficient product certifications
  • Read and understand requirements of hazardous location standards to ensure certifications are attained within budget and schedule
  • Become familiar with upcoming regulatory and environmental changes to standards and recommend courses of action for compliance
  • Assist NPD or project lead engineers with Product Regulatory Compliance actions, including hands-on detailed design reviews of electrical device designs
  • Interface with corporate legal counsel to discuss impacts of proposed regulatory changes as assigned
