Speechify is seeking a fast, product-minded engineer to own and ship critical user-facing features. This role operates at the intersection of UX, frontend development, growth, and customer success. You will be responsible for enhancing the user experience of Speechify Studio, making it intuitive from the very first interaction. This includes developing onboarding flows, in-app guidance, product documentation, "what's new" sections, and integrated support features.
You will own critical surfaces that define the user's initial experience with Speechify. You'll have the opportunity to ship frequently, collaborate across product and marketing teams, and play a key role in scaling user satisfaction, retention, and growth.
Speechify's mission is to ensure that reading is never a barrier to learning. Over 30 million people use Speechify's text-to-speech products to convert text from various sources (PDFs, books, Google Docs, articles, websites) into audio. This enables users to read faster, consume more content, and improve retention. Speechify's offerings include iOS, Android, Mac apps, a Chrome Extension, and a Web App. The company has been recognized by Google as the Chrome Extension of the Year and by Apple as App of the Day.
Speechify is a 100% distributed company with nearly 200 employees globally, comprising experienced engineers, AI research scientists, and professionals from leading tech companies and academic institutions.

Text-to-speech application for accessibility
Speechify provides a text-to-speech application that helps users access information audibly. It is designed for a diverse audience, including students, professionals, and individuals with learning differences like dyslexia and ADHD. The application works by converting written text into spoken words, allowing users to listen to content through various platforms, including a Google Chrome extension, web app, and mobile apps for iOS and Android. This accessibility feature is particularly beneficial for those who prefer auditory learning or have difficulty reading. Unlike many competitors, Speechify offers a freemium model, where basic features are free, and advanced options are available through a subscription. This approach, along with partnerships with platforms like Medium and the Star Tribune, helps expand its reach to over 20 million users worldwide. The goal of Speechify is to eliminate reading barriers, enabling users to learn and retain information more effectively.
