Candidates should possess 10+ years of experience in designing and implementing user experience and server-side application frameworks, along with expert-level understanding of Java, object-oriented design, and best practices for modular software. Exceptional Java and JavaScript skills, deep knowledge of web technologies, and significant contributions to OpenJDK are highly valued, as is a passion for software development, problem-solving, coaching, and mentoring other software engineers. Experience leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving, including using AI-powered tools and analyzing AI-driven insights, is also required.
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will drive the evolution of ServiceNow’s high-performance JVM runtime, owning critical initiatives and collaborating with Platform Architects and Product Management to define the future of the scalable platform. You will participate in all technical aspects of team deliverables, including quality, performance, maintainability, and scalability, and communicate technical decisions to business and engineering teams. Additionally, you will troubleshoot difficult production issues across the stack (concurrency, memory leaks, network problems) and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge platform features.
