Candidates should have 14+ years of industry experience designing, building, and supporting large scale systems in production. A strong foundation in computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems is required. Systems programming skills including multi-threading, concurrency, and caching are essential. Fluency in Java or another similar procedural object-oriented language is preferred. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science is required, with a Master's or PhD preferred. Knowledge of database internals is a big plus.
The Principal Software Engineer - Metadata will solve real business needs at large scale by applying software engineering and analytical problem-solving skills. They will create architecture and design, influence the product roadmap, and take ownership of new projects. The role includes designing, developing, and supporting a highly-parallel and fault-tolerant database system, as well as implementing core foundational features like transactions and metadata APIs. Additionally, the engineer will analyze and resolve performance and scalability bottlenecks and ensure operational readiness of services to meet customer commitments regarding availability and performance.
