Candidates should possess 6+ years of professional experience as a 3D Artist for games, with strong preference for experience in AAA game development through the full development cycle. A portfolio demonstrating highly detailed surfaces with a range of material types is required, along with mastery of software packages such as Max, Blender, Maya, Photoshop, Substance Designer, and Substance Painter, and knowledge of physically based rendering (PBR) workflows.
As a Principal Material Artist, the role involves building, curating, and managing a core library of textures and materials for the game, collaborating with various teams including VFX and Character, working with Technical Art to develop a layered material system, ensuring surface consistency across lighting scenarios, establishing visual quality standards, communicating material updates, defining asset pipelines, and mentoring other Material Artists while ensuring assets are delivered on time and to quality.
