Requirements

Candidates should have a PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or a Master's degree with 7+ years of experience in robotics, preferably in the AV industry. A minimum of 10 years of research experience in robotics/motion planning with a proven track record and 5+ years of C++ software development experience are required. Prior experience leading complex technical development from formulation to deployment in a production environment is essential. Experience with probabilistic models, machine learning for decision making under uncertainty, and the Bazel build framework are preferred.

Responsibilities

The Principal Engineer Trajectory Generation will lead research and development of novel algorithms for motion planning in autonomous driving, expanding the Operational Design Domain. They will lead cross-functional projects, monitor system performance, and architect/integrate motion planning and prediction algorithms for real-world deployment. This role involves designing and building a robust, scalable codebase, driving technical collaboration with other system components, and mentoring junior and senior team members. The engineer will also teach better software practices and principles, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
