Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience
  • Expertise in designing, developing, and testing containers for medical devices that comply with ISO 11607 and internal requirements
  • Ability to manage medical device packaging projects for new and sustaining products
  • Capability to handle physical job demands associated with the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage medical device packaging projects (new products and sustaining products)
  • Capture product/packaging requirements for packaging and labeling
  • Design, develop, and test a wide variety of containers for protection, display, and handling of products
  • Determine packaging specifications based on product nature, cost limitations, legal requirements, and protection needs (e.g., resistance to moisture, chemicals, temperature, light, heat, rough handling, tampering)
  • Design package exteriors considering product identification, sales appeal, aesthetic quality, printing, and production techniques
  • Handle documentation management and/or coordination of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Support prototype line development in manufacturing facilities/plants
  • Formulate, deliver, and/or manage assigned projects, working with stakeholders to achieve results
  • Act as a recognized expert managing large projects or processes with considerable autonomy and limited oversight
  • Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level specialists
  • Contribute to defining direction for new products, processes, standards, or operational plans
  • Manage large projects or processes spanning outside immediate job area
  • Develop solutions to moderately complex problems and implement improvements to processes, systems, or products
  • Represent organization as primary contact for projects, communicating with internal/external customers and vendors, negotiating, and influencing decisions
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees; manage major/moderately complex projects, delegate work, review work products, and act as team leader
