Responsibilities

  • Ensure stock has ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigor
  • Ensure stock has an appropriate environment including good ventilation and a comfortable resting area
  • Ensure stock is free from pain, injury, or disease through preventative measures or rapid diagnosis and treatment
  • Ensure stock is provided sufficient space, proper facilities, and company of their own kind
  • Ensure conditions and treatment avoid mental suffering to the stock
  • Observe all hygiene rules, including personal hygiene, hand washing, boot dipping/changing, and wearing protective clothing
  • Strictly adhere to all bio-security rules
  • Ensure floor eggs are kept to a minimum by training birds to use nest boxes as per manager instruction
  • Collect and record egg collections neatly and accurately
  • Ensure food is weighed accurately
  • Maintain house hygiene, including dusting, light fitment cleaning, sweeping up, friable litter, and clean boot dips
  • Ensure nest boxes are kept clean and in good working order
  • Maintain accurate record keeping for house temperature, mortality, and egg collections
  • Keep the farm clean and tidy
  • Adhere to all Farm Health and Safety rules and procedures
