Requirements

  • Understanding of automated industrial machinery, including motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Knowledge of packaging, conveyance, liquid and powder manufacturing equipment and processes
  • PLC troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
  • Ability to install and troubleshoot basic three-phase motor control circuits
  • Skills in breakdown analysis
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain Allen-Bradley MicroLogix and ControlLogix hardware
  • Ability to perform Allen-Bradley PLC programming using RSLogix5, RSLogix500, and RSLogix5000 software or equivalent
  • Ability to implement and troubleshoot industrial communication networks, including Ethernet, Allen-Bradley Remote I/O, and DeviceNet
  • Ability to perform PID loop tuning and implement instrument calibration procedures
  • Knowledge of programming languages relevant to PLCs
  • Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical control systems, including PLC controls, networking, and HMI systems
  • Ability to initiate and develop control system modifications and new projects to improve plant performance and reliability
  • General knowledge of the National Electrical Code
  • Knowledge of wiring, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 lbs, walk around, or climb stairs
  • Comfortable working around moving machines (mixers, conveyor belts, forklifts)

Responsibilities

  • Provide input to managing controls and automation systems testing, quality control, data retrieval, and training for packaging and processing equipment
  • Assist in managing the controls and automation interface, testing, quality control, data retrieval, and training for all packaging and processing equipment
  • Assist with the development and modification of PLC & HMI programs
  • Provide project engineering support to process areas
  • Provide controls support for the manufacturing facility and assist plant mechanics in troubleshooting
  • Ensure documentation for control/electrical systems and document change control procedures
  • Assist with the development and management of controls-related capital projects
  • Contribute to determination and maintainability of new process control systems and manage process controls change control procedures for existing equipment
