Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Tool & Die Journeyman applied knowledge
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in injection molding and die-cast tooling design
  • Proficient in using CREO as a mechanical design and documentation tool
  • Proficient at estimating manufacturing costs of building injection molding tools and piece-part prices
  • Experienced at effectively dealing with conflict
  • Makes clear and effective presentations to inform and persuade peers and managers
  • Communicates well verbally, in writing, and graphically
  • Ability to establish clear goals and formulate plans to achieve them
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Works independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to speak and write effectively in English
  • Excited about technology and has the desire to learn new tasks and technologies

Responsibilities

  • Development of injection molding tools for HPE server and rack products
  • Act as the tooling expert for injection molded plastic parts during the development process and into production, including prototype tooling, soft tooling, and hard tooling design and analysis to drive high quality at lowest cost for both tools and piece-part prices
  • Act as a consultant for internal HPE Mechanical development engineers regarding part manufacturability and assembly for high volume production
  • Act as a consultant to external vendors to review injection molding tool designs for robustness at low cost
  • Perform competitive cost analysis and clean-sheet cost analysis of plastic and die-cast parts
  • Drive innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the mechanical and thermal design organization
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced team members
