Requirements

Washington State medical license (preferred)
Certification, or willingness to become certified, with the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) (preferred)
Active credentialing, state licenses, and any special certifications required for the role
Clinical expertise as a Psychiatrist to review medical necessity of services

Responsibilities

Review all medical records and address each client question using client-specific or nationally recognized evidence-based criteria
Ensure rationale for determinations is clear, concise, and supported by adequate documentation
Identify, critique, and utilize current criteria/resources (e.g., national/state guidelines, peer-reviewed literature); avoid case studies/cohorts due to limited sample sizes
Provide copies of criteria used in reviews with the report in a timely manner
Return cases on or before due dates/times
Make telephone calls as required by state/client specifics
Maintain proper credentialing, state licenses, and special certifications
Attend required orientation and training
Perform other duties as assigned, including addressing quality assurance, complaints, regulatory issues, depositions, court appearances, or audits
Conduct in-person exams in Bellevue, WA (multiple per day possible), with video recording for ~15% of exams
