Requirements

Medical Doctor (MD) - Licensed by Board of Medicine and qualified to practice medicine in the state of services, board certified or board eligible upon hire
Or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) - Licensed by Board of Medicine and qualified to practice medicine in the state of services, board certified or board eligible upon hire
Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license (state and federal) based on state of practice upon hire
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds

Responsibilities

Assess, diagnose, and treat patients according to medical staff approved protocol and acceptable standards of practice
Provide medical services and health education to patients and family members, contributing to health education of individuals and groups to increase motivation for self-care
Perform necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
Interpret information from diagnostic processes and formulate appropriate plans of care
Provide quality care, demonstrating appropriate health, safety, and aseptic practices
Recognize and react appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care; provide patient instruction on environment of care and safety standards
Understand, apply, and support practice policies, procedures, goals, and standards
Meet regularly with care team for consultation, collaboration, and to promote quality care; assure appropriate patient referrals
Maintain patient records and accurate information
Comply with safety principles, laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., CMS, The Joint Commission, DHHS, OSHA)
Promote Avera’s values of compassion, hospitality, and stewardship; maintain confidentiality
