Requirements
- Medical Doctor (MD) - Board of Medicine licensed and qualified to practice medicine in the state where services are provided; board certified or board eligible upon hire
- Or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) - Board of Medicine licensed and qualified to practice medicine in the state where services are provided; board certified or board eligible upon hire
- Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license - State and federal DEA license based on state of practice upon hire
- Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
- Ability to work primarily days with night, weekend, and holiday on-call involvement

Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients according to medical staff approved protocol and acceptable standards of practice
- Provide medical services and health education to patients and family members; contribute to health education of individuals and groups to increase motivation for self-care
- Perform necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Interpret information gathered during the diagnostic process and formulate appropriate plan of care
- Provide quality care for patients, demonstrating appropriate health, safety, and aseptic practices
- Recognize and react appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care; provide patient instruction on environment of care and safety standards
- Understand, apply, and support practice policies, procedures, goals, and standards
- Meet regularly with the care team for consultation and collaboration; promote quality care and assure appropriate referrals
- Maintain patient records and accurate information
- Promote Avera’s values of compassion, hospitality, and stewardship
