Requirements

Medical Doctor (MD) - Licensed and qualified to practice medicine in the state of service, board certified or board eligible Upon Hire
Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) - Licensed and qualified to practice medicine in the state of service, board certified or board eligible Upon Hire
Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license (state and federal) based on state of practice Upon Hire
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Ability to work primarily days with night, weekend, and holiday on-call involvement

Responsibilities

Assess, diagnose, and treat patients according to medical staff approved protocol and acceptable standards of practice
Provide medical services and health education to patients and family members, applying methods to increase motivation for self-care
Perform necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
Interpret diagnostic information and formulate appropriate plans of care
Provide quality care, demonstrating appropriate health, safety, and aseptic practices
Recognize and react to environmental safety factors related to patient care; provide patient instruction on environment of care and safety standards
Understand, apply, and support practice policies, procedures, goals, and standards
Meet regularly with care team for consultation, collaboration, and quality care promotion; assure appropriate referrals
Maintain patient records and accurate information
Promote Avera’s values of compassion, hospitality, and stewardship
