Responsibilities

  • Help manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
  • Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy during bench shifts without overlap, including coaching team members, providing feedback, and strengthening performance measures
  • Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty
  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing the team to follow pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, genuine care, coaching the team, collaborating with healthcare teams, and resolving insurance/medication issues
  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, and engage/support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
  • Support effective management of pharmacy inventory by following and coaching on best practices, especially protecting cold chain products
  • Partner with Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues as needed
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; support Pharmacy Manager by writing the pharmacy schedule if directed
  • Actively seek opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients
  • Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception) where permissible, and empower the team to provide such services
