Requirements

  • Active Pharmacist license from the Board of Pharmacy in the state of practice within 30 days
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Ability to work primarily days with rotating weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense medications, evaluating functions related to pharmacy services
  • Collect data, report adverse drug reactions, perform drug utilization evaluation, quality assurance audits, and inventory control
  • Interpret, process, and monitor medication orders for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness
  • Monitor medication therapy, analyzing patient medication, medical problems, laboratory data, and special procedures, correlating with other clinicians
  • Provide medication information to providers and other healthcare individuals in a timely manner
  • Counsel patients on proper usage, desired effects, and potential adverse effects of medications
  • Mentor students, interns, technicians, and others in career plans or professional development
  • Coordinate and oversee workflow with team members including pharmacists, residents, technicians, and students
  • Maintain working knowledge of professional standards, regulatory policies, federal/state laws, and organization procedures for compliance
  • Recognize and communicate issues/occurrences, assisting in resolving variances or unacceptable outcomes
  • Oversee activities of pharmacy technical staff and interns
  • Collaborate with medical staff to manage patient treatments and ensure compliance with policies and regulations
