Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience in property management, real estate, or a related field (student housing experience is a plus)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Familiarity with California landlord/tenant laws and Berkeley rent control ordinances (preferred)
  • Proficiency in property management software (e.g., AppFolio, Yardi, Buildium) is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance processes and vendor coordination
  • Must live locally or within reasonable distance of Berkeley
  • Bilingual (English/Mandarin) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for tenants, addressing inquiries, concerns, and maintenance requests promptly and professionally
  • Coordinate and follow up on maintenance and repair work with vendors and contractors
  • Conduct regular property inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance with local housing regulations
  • Manage leasing process, including showing units, screening applicants, preparing lease agreements, and handling move-in/move-out procedures
  • Enforce lease terms and assist with rent collection and late payment follow-ups
  • Maintain accurate records, including tenant files, lease agreements, maintenance logs, and rent payments
  • Ensure compliance with city, state, and federal housing regulations
