Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Basic computer proficiency, including data entry into manufacturing software
  • Ability to read and write English, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations
  • Proficient in basic shop math
  • Safety oriented and able to follow safety policies
  • Ability to work in a standing position up to 10 hours
  • Ability to lift parts, tools, and equipment
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays
  • Tolerance for manufacturing environment (noise, dust, grime, heat) and ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Responsibilities

  • Coat surfaces of parts, assemblies, and products with paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer, or stain using spray gun, brush, or roller
  • Select and mix coating materials
  • Strip, sand, mask, and repaint surfaces; manually blend finish to match surrounding areas
  • Regulate controls on equipment to cure and dry paint or coatings
  • Clean spraying equipment and brushes with solvent
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process controls, industry standards, or other procedures
  • Record types and amounts of paints used for environmental regulation reporting
  • Record completion of painting operations on planning documents
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment, including cleaning paint booth area and complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Follow general company, corporate, and department policies and procedures
  • Report to work on time, follow instructions from supervisor or management, interact well with co-workers, and follow work rules
  • Crosstrain in different processes within the department
  • Perform other various duties as needed or assigned
