Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN) license and meet RN CAP 2 criteria (entry level or advancement from RN CAP 1)
Ability to perform physical demands: heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, frequent prolonged standing, bending, moving machines/equipment up to 200 lbs. (with assistance), lifting chemical/water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
Compliance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state, and federal regulations
Complete CAP requirements to maintain or advance

Responsibilities

Perform ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre-during-post hemodialysis treatment, document in medical record, adjust treatment plan, and notify Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Physician as needed
Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family’s basic learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education
Direct and provide, in collaboration with direct and ancillary staff, safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients
Administer medications as prescribed or per approved algorithm(s), document justification and effectiveness
Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
Serve as resource, leader, coach, mentor, and role model for new and incumbent employees
Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, shipping; reschedule missed or insufficient collections
Identify expected outcomes, document and update nursing assessment and plan of care in collaboration with Interdisciplinary Team
Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
Participate in education and quality improvement projects at facility and area level
May serve as Preceptor to new employees
Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
