Requirements

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in optics, mechanical engineering, physics or related technical field
  • 2+ years (Opto-Mechanical Engineer) or 5+ years (Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer) of experience in opto-mechanical systems design and development
  • Ability to develop processes and train others to follow them
  • CAD experience, including GD&T and detailed drawing documentation
  • Strong mechanical engineering and physics fundamentals
  • Systems-level thinker also able to perform detailed work; has previously delivered complex opto-mechanical systems
  • Able to identify gaps, define roadmaps, and negotiate outcomes across teams and departments

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to develop the optical systems on the LPBF machine
  • Design and build opto-mechanical systems and test/calibration equipment
  • Integrate state of the art high power lasers, scanners and high speed camera solutions both in a hands on and supervisory capacity
  • Create CAD and drawing files
  • Develop and perform test/calibration/characterization processes and design the necessary equipment
  • Train operators on various optical calibration and cleaning methods and processes
  • Work closely with the process team to ensure all equipment and processes align with process requirements
  • Define and promote a culture of laser safety
