Requirements

  • Ability to read production schedule, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, and/or distributed
  • Knowledge of how to operate and troubleshoot various types of equipment used in the shipyard
  • Ability to identify hazards, safe out equipment, and write safe work permits

Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials using forklift, pallet jack, clamp truck, cherry picker, crane, or other power equipment
  • Position forks, cherry picker, crane, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transport load to designated area
  • Unload and stack material by raising and lowering lifting device
  • Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring exact number and type of product is loaded
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code
  • Perform daily inspections, maintenance, and re-fueling of all equipment
  • Determine what, if any, parts or equipment need service beyond shipyard personnel capabilities
  • Follow all shipyard safety policies, including proper use of PPE, fire prevention, and confined space protocols
  • Assist in the training and development of junior operators
  • Collaborate and communicate with welders, metal fitters, pipefitters, electricians, and other trades to complete vessel construction or repair and maintain efficient workflows
  • Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced ship production environment
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward customers and represent Saronic professionally
  • Make a personal commitment and be accountable for HSE results, driving toward the achievement of defined goals
