Requirements

Ability to read production schedule, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, and/or distributed
Knowledge of how to operate and troubleshoot various types of equipment used in the shipyard
Ability to identify hazards, safe out equipment, and write safe work permits

Responsibilities

Load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials using forklift, pallet jack, clamp truck, cherry picker, crane, or other power equipment
Position forks, cherry picker, crane, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transport load to designated area
Unload and stack material by raising and lowering lifting device
Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring exact number and type of product is loaded
Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code
Perform daily inspections, maintenance, and re-fueling of all equipment
Determine what, if any, parts or equipment need service beyond shipyard personnel capabilities
Follow all shipyard safety policies, including proper use of PPE, fire prevention, and confined space protocols
Assist in the training and development of junior operators
Collaborate and communicate with welders, metal fitters, pipefitters, electricians, and other trades to complete vessel construction or repair and maintain efficient workflows
Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced ship production environment
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Maintain a positive attitude toward customers and represent Saronic professionally
Make a personal commitment and be accountable for HSE results, driving toward the achievement of defined goals
