Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or associate degree with relevant experience in system administration/help desk/security (cyber), varying by level: Nuclear Specialist (1 year), Sr (2 years), Principal (2 years)
  • OR High School Diploma/GED with relevant experience: Nuclear Specialist (2 years), Sr (3 years), Principal (4 years)
  • OR graduation from an approved Cybersecurity Program with demonstrated hands-on ability (no additional experience required)
  • Good working knowledge and skills in at least a few of: Windows Operating Systems, Virtualization, network architecture and configuration, Oracle databases and SQL Server, Scripting (Batch files, PowerShell), Active Directory and Group Policies, SIEM systems, Antivirus, Vulnerability management, Radio Systems, Operational Technology (OT) devices
  • Desired certifications (plus but not required): CISSP, GCIH, SANS GIAC, EC-Council CEH, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA A+

Responsibilities

  • Ensure controls required by NEI 08-09 are implemented for digital systems and components at Cook Nuclear Plant
  • Handle moderate-scale security assignments with limited direction from senior team members
  • Develop and maintain documentation of security systems, projects, and processes for unified understanding
  • Participate in review, evaluation, and recommendation of emerging security technologies
  • Assist in gathering, investigating, and analyzing security requirements, processes, and incidents
  • Demonstrate problem-solving, decision-making, and functional area knowledge
  • Participate in and direct security projects/initiatives
  • Administer and maintain Advanced Information Management (AIM) Security Computer System to guard and control access to Nuclear Power Plant
  • Actively participate in team initiatives and meetings by preparing, contributing, and following through
  • Develop and present documents and reports clearly, concisely, and effectively
  • Identify, clarify, resolve, and initiate solutions to security problems involving analysis of inadequate or conflicting data
  • Maintain awareness of time constraints and manage time/resources efficiently for multiple assignments
  • Establish recommendations based on presented options
  • Performance of duties may involve work in hazardous areas and radiation exposure within NRC limits
