Requirements

  • Equivalence of a craft apprenticeship in one of the following: Combustion-Instrumentation Technician, Electronic Repairman, or Electrical Inspector (Maintenance Electrician)
  • 1–3 years of experience as an electrician in heavy industry, manufacturing, or mining
  • OSHA 10 and equipment certifications as required
  • Possession of an electrical journeyman license or equivalent education/experience (for Standard level)

Responsibilities

  • Provide all necessary electrical, electronic, and combustion-instrumentation maintenance to all areas of the Mill
  • Troubleshoot, repair, dismantle, assemble, and install a variety of equipment throughout the mill
  • Serve the function(s) of a Combustion-Instrumentation Technician, Electronic Repairman, and/or Electrical Inspector (Maintenance Electrician) depending on training and certification
  • Complete the RMSM training program to become skilled in all three crafts
  • Work with Electric Shop, Combustion Lab, and Electronic Shop equipment and tools
  • Operate overhead cranes as needed
  • Perform routine maintenance and assist Maintenance personnel
  • Observe lockout procedures
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment
  • Work in both inside and outside environmental conditions, including exposure to elevated noise levels, vibrations, extreme cold and heat, and potential hazards such as moving parts, electrical currents, and molten metal
