This role seeks a Research Team Lead to guide a team of Runway's Applied ML Research team. The individual will be responsible for driving the execution of new applied research projects, leveraging a strong research background in computer vision and a passion for enabling other researchers to develop state-of-the-art research. This is a cross-functional role requiring strong communication and collaboration skills, involving collaboration with the engineering organization on transitioning research into production and with the Product team on initiating and developing projects delivering clear user value.

Requirements

• Experience: 4+ years of industry experience as a research scientist in computer vision.
• Skills: Strong research background in computer vision.

  • Ability to communicate goals effectively and drive project execution.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Understanding of how to translate product and business objectives into technical strategies.
  • Deep interest in productionizing state-of-the-art ML research.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow Runway’s applied machine learning research team.
• Coordinate with the product team and the rest of the engineering team to define goals for the team aligned with overall company initiatives.
• Write tooling and prototypes to unblock and increase the productivity of other researchers.
• Work with a world-class engineering & research team pushing the boundaries of content creation on the browser.
