Completion of 75 hour C.N.A. course
Certified Medication Aide
Certified as a Nursing Assistant and Medication Aide in the State of Iowa
Prefer high school diploma or GED
Prior related work experience preferred
Attends 12 hours of in-service training yearly
Competent on the use of blood glucose machine

Responsibilities

Under supervision of the charge nurse, provides assistance with distribution of medications to residents
Assists with CNA responsibilities as needed
Communicates effectively with residents, families, and coworkers to protect and promote each resident’s dignity, individuality and rights
Assesses patient’s daily needs and treatments, including obtaining and recording vital signs, height, weight, assessing need for assistance with or independence in dressing needs, bathing, eating, and ambulation, considering the patient’s choice, privacy, dignity, and independence
Provides input in the care planning process as a member of the multidisciplinary team
Provides or assists the patient with daily needs and treatments in accordance with established policy and procedure, including assisting with bathing and dressing needs, shaving, oral hygiene, bed making, transferring into and out of bed, repositioning, toileting needs, serving and collecting food trays, encouraging and/or assisting with feeding, answering call lights, ensuring a clean environment, transporting patients upon admission and dismissal, assisting with ambulation, and orienting/reorienting patients to the facility environment to ensure patient safety
Performs or assists patients in performing specific medical care activities in accordance with established policy and procedure to contribute to the patient’s plan of care, including assisting with restorative exercises, collecting specimens, and administering enemas
