Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to the professional rescuer level
  • Mobility Assistance Vehicle-Operator certification (preferred)
  • EVOC certification (preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s license recognized by the State of New Jersey with driving record meeting insurance company standards/requirements
  • Must complete yearly PPD, Fit Test, Corporate Compliance, HIPAA and Safety Day training by the date set forth by the department
  • Previous experience operating medical transport vehicles (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Operates medical transport vehicles (including mobile assistance vehicles and ambulances) in a safe, defensive, and courteous manner
  • Demonstrates knowledge of motor vehicle law and adheres to driving policies at all times
  • Ensures the vehicle is fueled and operable and reports problems in a timely manner
  • Completes all required documentation and assures all transports are on time
  • Consistently practices safe patient movement, loading, unloading, and securing wheelchairs in MAV
  • Communicates with patient, caregivers, and family members in a compassionate manner
  • Performs vehicle and equipment check at the start of each shift
  • Ensures that the vehicle and ready room are sufficiently stocked and ready for service
  • Completes supply inventory as requested by department management
  • Maintains all Virtua owned equipment and property in a safe, clean, and secure manner
  • Provides assistance to emergency medical technicians during transport
  • Provides outstanding customer service and facilitates safe and punctual patient movement and transportation
  • Assists emergency medical technicians in the facilitation of both 911 and inter-facility requests for service
