Requirements

High School diploma or GED
Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to the professional rescuer level
Mobility Assistance Vehicle-Operator certification (preferred)
EVOC certification (preferred)
Valid Driver’s license recognized by the State of New Jersey with driving record meeting insurance company standards/requirements
Must complete yearly PPD, Fit Test, Corporate Compliance, HIPAA and Safety Day training by the date set forth by the department
Previous experience operating medical transport vehicles (preferred)

Responsibilities

Operates medical transport vehicles (including mobile assistance vehicles and ambulances) in a safe, defensive, and courteous manner
Demonstrates knowledge of motor vehicle law and adheres to driving policies at all times
Ensures the vehicle is fueled and operable and reports problems in a timely manner
Completes all required documentation and assures all transports are on time
Consistently practices safe patient movement, loading, unloading, and securing wheelchairs in MAV
Communicates with patient, caregivers, and family members in a compassionate manner
Performs vehicle and equipment check at the start of each shift
Ensures that the vehicle and ready room are sufficiently stocked and ready for service
Completes supply inventory as requested by department management
Maintains all Virtua owned equipment and property in a safe, clean, and secure manner
Provides assistance to emergency medical technicians during transport
Provides outstanding customer service and facilitates safe and punctual patient movement and transportation
Assists emergency medical technicians in the facilitation of both 911 and inter-facility requests for service
