Responsibilities

Manage a field-based team of MSLs in the U.S. West region
Serve as the medical and scientific voice of expertise for Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) products and therapeutic areas
Provide expert advice and guidance to key customers on ADC products and relevant therapeutic areas, including scientific exchange and professional development with thought leaders and external experts
Support the U.S. commercial team with medical and scientific affairs
Ensure ADC’s scientific credibility with national and regional thought leaders by fostering scientific dialogue, collaboration in research, publications, and medical exchange, and responding to unsolicited requests for medical information
Interface regularly with U.S. commercial team members and maintain high-level knowledge for credible dissemination of scientific information
Collaborate with the National Director to plan the strategic vision for the U.S. MSL team and provide ongoing updates to leadership
Provide scientific and medical leadership to the MSL team to ensure professional and credible relationships with thought leaders and external experts
Ensure a strong medical and scientific presence in key academic centers by facilitating research and educational initiatives and supporting requests for medical and scientific information
Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other in-field leadership and teams while maintaining functional independence
Support commercial teams while managing proactive and independent MSL initiatives
Serve as a point of contact for thought leaders and external experts in the assigned geographic area to meet their needs for scientific knowledge and relevant ADC products
Oversee delivery of credible presentations on scientific matters to healthcare providers, individually or in groups (e.g., meetings, clinical sessions), focusing on Tier 1 and Tier 2 thought leaders
Help identify key opinion leaders (KOLs) for consultant and advisory roles and support the marketing team in selecting speakers for bureaus and product theaters
