Requirements

  • 3 years’ work experience in Ocean Cargo claims is preferable
  • Technically sound and highly knowledgeable in Ocean Cargo claims, 1st party and Forwarder Liability
  • Possess policy language skills for accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation
  • Have thorough knowledge of legal, regulatory and procedural requirements
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Must be detailed oriented, have problem solving skills, be self-motivated, proactive, and have forward thinking skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective time management and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage key claim inquiries, coverage determination, quantum analysis and legal liability assessments
  • Ensure effective vendor management on complex losses
  • Report key claims messages to management and to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure adherence to best practices, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Timely, accurate and customer focused claim resolution, minimizing indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor expense
  • Effective communication and management of key advanced complex claims and Inland Marine portfolio messages to internal stakeholders and customers/clients
  • Financial control through consistent reserve and other financial transaction discipline
  • Accurate and consistent policy interpretation
  • Process the sale of salvage with external vendors and effectively negotiate with repair facilities and with towing yards for release of equipment often with invoices more than the available policy limits
