Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Engineering degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or related field
  • Engineer I: 0-2 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • Engineer II: 2-4 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of heavy machinery manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge or experience with tool and/or equipment design and drafting using Solid Modeling/CAD
  • Good work record, including strong self-motivation, high productivity, reliable attendance, attention to quality, ability to learn new skills, and a cordial, cooperative personality
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available)
  • Preferred: Experience using SAP
  • Preferred: Knowledge of TOC and Lean methods used in manufacturing processes

Responsibilities

  • Design production equipment and plan production facilities (including workflow)
  • Conduct studies of methods, cost control, cost reduction, and other engineering/economic concerns
  • Apply approved manufacturing engineering methods to improve performance, reduce waste and delays, and promote cost reduction and efficiency
  • Design equipment used to assemble and manufacture products, including all assembly tooling, machines used to assemble and test equipment, and other related machinery
  • Review current product designs and recommend modifications that minimize costs and effectively apply production capabilities
  • During the design of new products, review product designs, determine manufacturing methods, and recommend modifications to ensure and improve manufacturability
  • Analyze costs of new parts and products to establish preliminary standard production costs
  • Coordinate new part/product manufacturing introductions, including establishing routings for parts, weldments, and assemblies; requirements for jigs, fixtures, and tooling; assembly methods, fixtures, and procedures; and quality assurance, including required gauging and process controls
  • Research, organize, analyze, and maintain records of technical information from a variety of sources
  • Recommend changes in parts specifications, manufacturing processes, and production methods to improve quality, economy, efficiency, and manufacturability
  • Prepare feasibility studies to support equipment purchases, make/buy decisions, etc
  • Perform time studies and analyze data to improve flow of product and material through Manufacturing and Assembly
  • Analyze plant layout and coordinate changes to accomplish lean production goals
  • Perform Value Analysis engineering activities
  • Prepare presentations and present information to individuals and groups
  • Through behavior and communication, maintain positive relationships with customers, clients, supervisors, and co-workers
  • Meet or exceed typical expectations for engineering competence, productivity, creativity, and safety
  • Perform other duties as assigned
