Requirements

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Experience in a regulated industry such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, avionics, or automotive (nice to have)
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (nice to have)
  • Effective planning and organization skills, including the ability to work against multiple objectives simultaneously and understand schedule, budget, and scope (nice to have)
  • Excellent communication, written, verbal, and presentation skills (nice to have)
  • Familiarity with DRM, DMAIC, Lean, and/or Six Sigma principles (nice to have)
  • Solid understanding of key manufacturing performance areas: safety, quality, delivery, cost (nice to have)
  • Work experience with FDA Quality System Regulations, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), ISO 13485, ISO 9001 standards or equivalent (nice to have)
  • Excellent documentation skills in a regulated environment (nice to have)
  • Experience planning, authoring, testing, and documenting sequence code for PC-based manufacturing equipment (nice to have)
  • Working knowledge of state machines (nice to have)
  • Ability to create and interpret flow charts, state diagrams, and sequence diagrams (nice to have)
  • Ability to author and interpret software requirements and test cases (nice to have)
  • Proficiency in text-based coding; experience with AeroBasic and/or AeroScript code (nice to have)

Responsibilities

  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling
  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
  • Developing, optimizing, and maintaining welding techniques, equipment, and procedures to meet stringent regulatory and quality standards
  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Process Development, and Device Design & Reliability
  • Contributing to process improvements, troubleshooting, and the integration of new technologies to enhance manufacturing performance
  • Performing root cause analyses for product quality issues
  • Qualifying new equipment and processes
  • Ensuring compliance with Medtronic’s quality systems and industry regulations
