Requirements

Bachelor's degree required
Minimum 2+ years of relevant engineering experience OR a Master's degree and 0 years of experience
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles
Excellent written communication skills
Experience in a regulated industry such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, avionics, or automotive (nice to have)
Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (nice to have)
Effective planning and organization skills, including the ability to work against multiple objectives simultaneously and understand schedule, budget, and scope (nice to have)
Excellent communication, written, verbal, and presentation skills (nice to have)
Familiarity with DRM, DMAIC, Lean, and/or Six Sigma principles (nice to have)
Solid understanding of key manufacturing performance areas: safety, quality, delivery, cost (nice to have)
Work experience with FDA Quality System Regulations, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), ISO 13485, ISO 9001 standards or equivalent (nice to have)
Excellent documentation skills in a regulated environment (nice to have)
Experience planning, authoring, testing, and documenting sequence code for PC-based manufacturing equipment (nice to have)
Working knowledge of state machines (nice to have)
Ability to create and interpret flow charts, state diagrams, and sequence diagrams (nice to have)
Ability to author and interpret software requirements and test cases (nice to have)
Proficiency in text-based coding; experience with AeroBasic and/or AeroScript code (nice to have)

Responsibilities

Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling
Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout
Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance
Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions
May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan
Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality
Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques
Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques
Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
Developing, optimizing, and maintaining welding techniques, equipment, and procedures to meet stringent regulatory and quality standards
Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Process Development, and Device Design & Reliability
Contributing to process improvements, troubleshooting, and the integration of new technologies to enhance manufacturing performance
Performing root cause analyses for product quality issues
Qualifying new equipment and processes
Ensuring compliance with Medtronic’s quality systems and industry regulations
