Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in journalism, media, law or a related field
  • 7+ years’ journalism experience, including at least 2 years in a management or editorial leadership role
  • Experience covering courts, Parliament, or federal government, preferably within Australia
  • Deep understanding of the Australian legal system and political landscape
  • Exceptional editorial judgment, writing, and editing skills
  • Strong people leadership – ability to build, inspire, and develop a high-performing team
  • Ability to balance speed and accuracy in a dynamic news environment
  • Strategic thinking and comfort working in a global, fast-paced newsroom

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of reporters covering courts, Parliament, and the legal sector
  • Develop and execute editorial and strategic plans aligned with Law360’s global goals
  • Oversee daily news output, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and depth of reporting
  • Coordinate coverage of major legal and political developments across Australia
  • Represent Law360 in meetings, media, and public events as the local face of the organisation
  • Build strong networks with legal professionals, academics, regulators, and policymakers
  • Drive innovation in storytelling, newsroom operations, and use of technology (including AI tools)
