Infrastructure Platform Engineering Manager

Position Overview

SailPoint's Infrastructure Platform team is responsible for designing, building, and operating a world-class scaled cloud environment in AWS. We collaborate closely with developers and peer infrastructure teams to deliver a highly-available, dynamically scaling infrastructure accessed by millions of users across thousands of customers daily. We prioritize a culture of engineering and operations excellence to create a stable, predictable platform at scale for SailPoint’s Identity Security Cloud, the leading and most comprehensive identity solution in the world.

About the Role

As the Infrastructure Platform Team Manager, you will play a pivotal role in securing some of the world’s most important companies. You will lead a team of motivated engineers responsible for the cloud and compute platform on which Identity Security Cloud runs. Building on AWS cloud and Kubernetes, we run many thousands of pods on thousands of nodes across hundreds of services deployed to many regions. The team is responsible for designing, deploying, and operating the foundational compute platform that is the backbone of our Cloud. You will partner with fellow infrastructure and development teams to deliver cutting-edge features reliably and predictably.

Responsibilities

  • Run daily team operations: Operate using a modified Scrum framework that enables an operations team to manage its many needs and demands. Ensure priorities are followed, urgent work is done timely, and planned work progresses on schedule.
  • Enhance the platform: Alongside architects, leads, and technology SMEs, develop a roadmap and lead the design and execution of the roadmap’s vision and goals.
  • Collaborate with Peer Teams: Contribute to architecture decisions and facilitate cross-team collaboration to maximize the operational efficiency and stability of the overall infrastructure platform. This includes teams like Data Operations, CI/CD, Observability, and SRE.
  • Collaborate with Development Teams: Ensure effective communication, dependency management, and tracking of cross-team projects and needs. Ensure all critical facets such as security, cost efficiency, stability, and operational maturity are considered.
  • Foster a culture of service ownership: Cultivate a culture of excellence through code-to-production service ownership, where each team owns what they build from inception to production health and stability.
  • Build, Mentor, and Lead the Infrastructure Platform DevOps team: Oversee, grow, and develop the team by focusing on DevOps culture, communication, engineering excellence, and career development.
  • Cost optimization and budgeting: Play a key role in planning, cost control, and improving the cost efficiency of our platform.

Key Technologies

The Infrastructure Platform team is responsible for all the various SaaS AWS Environments. They deploy new regions, configure new features and services, and assist fellow teams with troubleshooting as the final AWS team of experts. They also own the Compute platform built on Kubernetes (EKS), core networking, edge and internal networking, and PaaS vendor connectivity. Alongside fellow infrastructure teams, they ensure developers have self-service for configuration where possible, provide expert guidance and oversight where needed, and lead the way in introducing new tools and features to the platform.
