Requirements

  • Intermediate computer skills with proficiency in Windows-based programs such as WORD and EXCEL
  • Must pass Tyson Forklift Training Test within 30 days
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Some experience with mechanical, electrical, power transmissions (gear boxes), motor control, conveyors (drags), pneumatics, plumbing, welding, and fabrication (experience with PLCs and hydraulics is a plus)
  • Ability to operate small tools and welders
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems
  • Alabama Driver License with a good driving record
  • Ability to work extra hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, accommodate shift changes, be called in, or be on call
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders in excess of 100 ft
  • Capable of lifting 50-100 lbs. (equipment, bags of ingredients, etc.)
  • Ability to stoop, bend, squat, climb, push, pull various loads, work in high/elevated areas, withstand long periods of standing, and perform repetitive hand/wrist motions
  • Willingness to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (ear plugs, reflective vests, safety harnesses, safety goggles, dust masks, etc.)
  • Ability to work in inclement conditions, including hot, non-toxic dusty indoor environments (10°F to over 100°F)
  • Minimum of six (6) months of Industrial Maintenance experience or graduate of a Maintenance Training Program (must be documented on application or resume)
  • Max of two previous Tyson employments for rehire consideration (180 days waiting period)

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures
  • Perform preventive maintenance and upkeep on all feed blend equipment, feed mill equipment, and facilities
  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues as needed
  • Assist in spare parts inventory control and procurement
  • Maintain all records as required by Tyson and/or other regulatory agencies
  • Comply with all Tyson and/or agency policies/procedures on safety, electrical, hot works, environmental, lock out/tag out, forklift operation, rail car mover operation, boiler operation, etc
  • Perform all other duties assigned
