Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, and have at least 2-3 years of experience in software design and development, focusing on backend services and data pipelines. They should have a strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, software design, and core statistics knowledge. Experience with Java, Python, or Scala is required, along with experience in production-grade coding.

Responsibilities

The Machine Learning Engineer will be responsible for designing, delivering, and maintaining significant features in data pipelines, ML processing, and/or service infrastructure. They will optimize software performance to achieve required throughput and latency, collaborate with managers and peers on project scoping, develop a sound technical strategy, take ownership of cross-team efforts, and actively participate in knowledge sharing across the organization. They will also contribute to building and improving eBay’s Product Knowledge system, which involves processing billions of items and creating services for search and information retrieval.
