Lead ML Engineer
MachinifyFull Time
Senior (5 to 8 years), Mid-level (3 to 4 years)
San Francisco, California, United States
Candidates must have 2+ years of relevant industry experience, strong Python coding skills, and experience with modern ML frameworks like PyTorch or Tensorflow. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential. Experience with a statically typed language (e.g., Golang), building 0-to-1 mission-critical AI/ML applications, optimizing model inference, and working with FFmpeg or similar video processing libraries are considered strong assets.
The Machine Learning Engineer will drive ML systems and platform engineering efforts across end-to-end research and engineering workflows. This includes scaling training, inference, and evaluation systems, while improving the reliability of model deployments, operations, and versioning. Responsibilities also involve incorporating research into fault-tolerant, low-latency systems, scaling multimodal AI/ML systems for video understanding, and delivering applied research solutions for tasks like VLM finetuning and dataset optimization.
AI system for video content understanding
Twelve Labs focuses on artificial intelligence and video understanding by developing a system that analyzes videos to extract key features like actions, objects, and speech. This information is transformed into vector representations, enabling fast semantic search within large video datasets. The company differentiates itself by providing a platform that is faster and more effective than many existing models, allowing developers and product managers to easily integrate its technology through an API. Twelve Labs aims to make all videos searchable, enhancing the way businesses utilize video content.
