Requirements

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, with potential requirements for U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a federal background investigation or security clearance. A Bachelor's Degree is required, along with 3-5 years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, or similar. Strong hands-on experience with AWS SageMaker, proficiency in Python and ML libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch), and experience building end-to-end ML workflows are essential. Solid understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, model evaluation, ETL pipelines, and cloud-based data environments is necessary. Familiarity with healthcare/federal compliance requirements like HIPAA, NIST, and RMF is also expected.

Responsibilities

The Machine Learning Engineer will develop, train, and deploy ML models using AWS SageMaker and related cloud services, while designing and maintaining end-to-end ML pipelines for data ingestion, training, testing, deployment, and monitoring. They will collaborate with engineers and scientists to ensure data quality, implement monitoring and retraining strategies for production models, and document ML workflows for transparency and compliance with DHA policies. Additionally, they will ensure all ML solutions adhere to federal security and privacy frameworks and support initiatives involving predictive analytics, automation, and healthcare decision support.
