Requirements

  • Completion of C-100 or equivalent experience to perform work on conductors and equipment energized up to 260 volts under general supervision, and assist with secondary voltages to 600 volts under immediate supervision
  • Completion of C-100 or equivalent experience to test, de-energize, ground, splice, terminate, troubleshoot, repair, and energize URD cable and equipment under immediate or general supervision
  • Completion of C-200 or equivalent experience to work on conductors and equipment energized up to 600 volts under general supervision, and use electrical test equipment (volt meters, amp meters, ground meggers, continuity testers) on voltages up to 600 volts
  • Completion of C-200 or equivalent experience to cover up stationary tied-in primary conductors and equipment under direct supervision
  • Completion of C-300 or equivalent experience to cover up, transfer, or move primary conductors and equipment under direct supervision
  • Completion of C-400 or equivalent experience to perform duties of B classification during first 12 months (assist with energized lines/cables/equipment under direct to immediate supervision, replace fuses, operate switching/sectionalizing devices under general supervision)
  • Builds upon skills, abilities, and knowledge from Line Mechanic D (or equivalent)
  • Ability to work under direct, immediate, or general supervision as skill level dictates

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, maintain, remove, and inspect overhead and underground facilities including conductors, cables, transformers, fixtures, structures, and associated equipment under immediate or general supervision
  • Drive and operate line trucks and associated auxiliary equipment
  • Build and erect equipment mountings (e.g., regulator and transformer platforms) and overhead transformer installations
  • Conduct proper tagging procedures while performing switching of energized circuits
  • Perform inspection and troubleshooting of lines
  • Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned
  • Direct the work of employees assigned to assist
  • Complete and submit Monthly Apprentice Cards to local supervision for review
