Requirements

  • Interest in joining Caterpillar's Maintenance, Quality, or Research & Development teams at the Peterborough facility (PE1 5FQ)
  • Eligibility for a 4-year advanced Level 3 Mechatronics Apprenticeship, including commitment to at least 20% college-based learning at College of West Anglia (Wisbech Campus)
  • Willingness to pursue nationally recognised qualifications through the Mechatronics Maintenance Technician / Skills England apprenticeship standard, including a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Mechatronics

Responsibilities

  • (Maintenance team): Use computerised systems to complete routine maintenance, diagnose equipment faults, and carry out repairs on production equipment and facilities in a timely manner
  • (Quality team): Complete customer engine return investigations, support validation work for New Product Introduction (NPI), and handle rejects from the assembly test and finish facility; work in departments such as metrology, torque analysis, and engine testing
  • (Research & Development team): Build, rig, and test new technologies that have yet to be mass-produced at the Caterpillar Europe Research & Development Centre
  • Spend at least 20% of working hours on college-based learning alongside on-the-job training supported by mentors
