Requirements

  • Qualified to practice as an attorney in Germany
  • Experience as an attorney advising multinational organizations on complex global matters
  • Experience working in a corporate legal environment with increasing levels of responsibility preferred
  • Ability to handle a variety of complex legal matters and identify, anticipate, and develop solutions-oriented strategies that mitigate legal risks, while achieving commercial targets
  • Ability to work well independently and manage global, complex projects, often involving cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to serve as a business partner and build consensus on complex legal and business issues while viewing legal issues through a business lens
  • Ability to work on and oversee legal and compliance technology platforms
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both German and English; additional language skills a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Advise and collaborate with business teams and other support functions on a wide range of legal issues, including commercial, litigation and dispute resolution
  • Serve as the regional lead and coordinate with corporate legal specialty teams to ensure that a consistent and appropriate approach to relevant specialty areas is adopted in EMEA
  • Advise key stakeholders on contracting with customers, suppliers and other third parties, including drafting, review and analysis of contractual terms
  • Develop strategies for contracting with customers, suppliers and other third parties that maximize contractual benefits and minimize risk
  • Analyze and resolve warranty, pricing and other disputes with customers, suppliers and other third parties
  • Manage legal support for corporate work with respect to a portfolio of Aptiv subsidiaries in EMEA
  • Advise and collaborate with other functions on compliance and investigation matters, including whistleblower cases
  • Provide strategic legal counsel on employment matters across EMEA
  • Lead and manage disputes and litigation from start to resolution and provide advice to different stakeholders
