About Us

We're on a mission to make money work for everyone, moving away from complicated and confusing traditional banking. Over the last 10 years in the UK, our product offering has expanded significantly from a prepaid card to include personal and business bank accounts, joint accounts, accounts for 16-17 year olds, a free kids account, and credit cards. We also offer savings, investments, and pension consolidation for our UK customers. Known for our hot coral cards, get-paid-early feature, financial education on social media, and award-winning customer service, we consistently create magical moments for our customers. Our focus is on solving problems and changing lives through Monzo, not just selling products.

About our Growth team

The Growth collective at Monzo helps customers discover Monzo's unique value and build healthy financial habits from the start. We focus on driving growth opportunities within our collective and enabling other internal teams to unlock additional value and build shareable customer experiences.

Our approach:

  • Customer Champions: We always aim to offer delightful customer experiences, giving them what they want.
  • Bold Experimentation: We translate growth hypotheses into bold experiments, using results to validate direction and understand our path.
  • Outcome-Focused: We prioritize outcomes over output and are willing to say "no" to smaller wins if they distract from bigger goals.
  • Team Sport: We achieve more through collaboration, leveraging our diverse expertise and perspectives.

What you'll be working on

As a Growth Designer, you'll be part of a new specialism at Monzo, supported by an experienced and passionate team of product designers, user researchers, and writers. This is a small but impactful team where every designer plays a crucial role in improving our community of practice, from enhancing craft skills to leading rituals and providing feedback.

You'll be embedded in a cross-functional product squad, responsible for all design contributions. This includes:

  • Initial discovery and user journey mapping.
  • Implementation of final UI design details and everything in between.
  • Deeply understanding customers through user research sessions, learning from insights, and conducting lightweight research.
  • Adopting a pragmatic approach to balance ideal experiences with scoping trade-offs based on technical constraints, experimentation strategy, or business risk.
  • Advocating for appropriate, intuitive, and accessible user experiences.

Designers collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Data Scientists to ensure not only great designs are shipped, but that they are deeply involved throughout the design process. You'll have support from our design and product leadership team, who are connected to the work of each squad and collective, ensuring alignment with long-term strategy, business goals, and experience quality, with healthy opportunities for visibility and feedback.

You should apply if...

  • You are a designer who confidently balances quality with humility and stays open-minded about alternative directions.
  • You are an adept communicator.
