High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Basic understanding of steel materials and industrial tools
Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 30 lbs. frequently; up to 100 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently, 20 lbs. constantly in heavy work)
Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, including frequent lifting, bending, and standing
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Familiarity with basic safety practices in an industrial environment
Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, noise, temperature changes, proximity to moving mechanical parts/vehicles, electrical current, high heat, chemicals)
Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights, if necessary
Previous experience in a steel mill, fabrication shop, or industrial setting is an asset
Basic knowledge of welding, grinding, or machine operation is advantageous

Responsibilities

Load, unload, and move steel materials manually or using equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, or pallet jacks
Assist in organizing and staging materials for production or shipment
Assist skilled workers in cutting, welding, grinding, or shaping steel
Prepare work areas by gathering tools, setting up equipment, and cleaning up after tasks are completed
Clean and maintain tools, machines, and work areas to ensure optimal performance and safety
Report any damaged equipment or safety hazards to supervisors
Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Comply with company policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment
