Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a top 50 market
- Excellent writing skills
- Solid news judgment and ethical decision-making skills
- Able to shoot video and edit stories for linear and digital on non-linear desktop editing platforms
- Proficient in operating handheld prosumer/consumer cameras and non-linear editing for linear and digital
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong editorial background in a breaking news environment
- Active users of social media for newsgathering
- Demonstrated ability to move the audience between linear and digital platforms
- Proven track record of developing contacts and sources and telling impactful stories
Responsibilities
- Anchor newscasts on linear TV and streaming
- Report daily stories
- Digital scripts
- Social media presence
- Anchor weekend evening newscasts
- Report three days per week
- Fill-in anchor on weekday newscasts
- Turn stories for newscasts, website, and 24/7 stream
- Write, shoot, and edit stories
- Appear live from the field during newscasts
- Pitch original stories and develop contacts within the community
- Represent KGO at community events, promotional events, and speaking engagements
